Folks, I don't remember what BMW calls it, but there is a plastic wear pad that rubs against the chain that runs the valve train. Is this plastic wear pad in need of replacement? Does it ever wear out?
What is the hot ticket for spline lube these days? Honda Moly 60?
Thank you!

Just checked and adjusted the valves on my RS.
The bike has 93,xxx km on it.
The chain tensioner surface looked fine.
Some folks here (and I) have used the Honda Moly. THE "gold standard" lube to use is Staburags which apparently is pretty sticky. _________________ John & Cathy

Your bike only has 45K on it. You will probably wear out before the plastic timing chain guide does. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
