I have just taken delivery of a Griso front end and a very nice set of wheels. My 'win' for the week is that the front end bolts straight up. I just need to get the right bearings and I think I'm good.
The rear wheel has the disk attached and I would rather utilise it than the stock brake setup. With the stock brake removed i will need at least a 10mm spacer to make up the distance and probably a bit more.
Does having a wider front tyre allow for more offset?
The next thing is the brakes...do I use a spacer for the caliper or on the disk? Hopefully someone has experience fitting Griso wheels! haha ha probably not.

Does the Griso front end have any provision for ABS?

The rear wheel sounds similar to an R1100 wheel- is it a 17 inch diameter?

We would all like some pictures of this modification when you are able to post them.

There are some "mad modifiers" here on the K11OG that should be able to give you some advice.

No ABS. The previous owner said it was dubious at best so I've removed it
They are 17 inch wheels and the forks are 3 inches shorter than stock. I may need to extend them but wont know until I get the bike back together.

Seeing the dwindling availability of good 18" rear tyres (Michelin's latest, the PR4 isn't available in 18") I thought of fitting a 17" R1100S rear wheel.

A more knowledgeable Owner's Group member suggested a K1200 wheel (the 1200 brick, not the newer K1200S) which is 17".

Good idea, but looking at tyre outer diameters, going to any 17" rear will result in the engine spinning faster at highway speeds- I would actually like to decrease revs on the highway.

It has 160/60 R18's on there as stock. I think if you were going with 17 inch wheels and maintaining the aspect ratio then you would have that problem.
I plan to go 180/60 R17 if they will fit. The difference between this and stock is 1.71 wheel revolutions per mile more...I don't think that's much at all. if my speedo reads 20mph I'll be doing 19.96mph. Whats interesting is if you use the stock K1200LT tyres you should stress the engine less...per mile your wheel is turning 7.94 times less (using 170/60R17).

I think I'm going to get a spacer made up for the wheel and one for the Guzzi disk to move it closer to the caliper...although I'm still not sure if that's better than a spacer on the caliper (I think it is). The plan is to get some longer M12 bolts (the stock 60mm is way too short) and use washers stacked on the bolt to determine the size of the spacer required. Anyone know what's with the thread on the BMW lug nut?...nothing in the hardware store seemed to match...the hunt continues Smile
