Nice work!
Like the footpegs. They always feel too far forward on my (stock) bike- I always find myself riding with the front of my feet on the pegs.
Curious about the front end. Feel any loss of ground clearance since you have raised the fork tubes in the triple clamp to fit the clip-ons?
Looks great so far.....please post pictures when you get around to painting it. _________________ John & Cathy

Hi , No problems with ground clearance
I have just done the head stem bearings on me tourer and dropped the front of that as well,
not as far as the cafe but it made such an improvement in handling thought it might be worth a try.
May cause clearance problems on that as it goes off road up some mean tracks often on long camping tours .
The cafe stays on the sealed stuff as them air filters not suited to the dusty stuff.
I have had it on gravel road and it does it well.
I have seen quiet a few ks now with the forks dropped through
all have been naked
not sure if the front can handle the extra weight
would only recomend doing this if your going to drop the overall weight on the bike

Nice build. The K100 makes a very nice platform for a cafe or for a naked bike, especially when one gets rid of the huge, ugly instrument cluster.
How did you handle the installation of the K&N filters? Specifically, how did you compensate for the removal of the MAF sensor in the air box? Did you replace the L-Jetronic with a Megasquirt or something similar? _________________ - Robert

There is no MAF sensor in K1100 or K100 16V or oilheads boxers! All those engines use Motronic as ECU with throttle position sensor placed on TB shaft. The only sensor in the airbox is the air temperature sensor. MAF was used in Jetronic systems : K2V.

Hi there...was wondering what you did with the crank breather when you dumped the airbox? there are two hoses one at the rear where oil can exit and I thought the one at the front was to take it back in while the hydrocarbons were then fed back through the engine...do you need to connect the two somehow or just put a filter on each end?
thanks

Mick,
Excellent work!
I really like that new color. What is it called and who makes it?
Cafedeush,
I can't speak for what Mick did with his crankcase breather, but here's what I did with mine:
http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11285&highlight=breather+bypass
The 10th post in that thread (bmwblock is the author) has the diagram I used.
The technical explanation of the bypass is here:

Mick,
I see that you fitted a K1200 rear wheel. I have been thinking of doing the same thing since the selection of available 18" rear tyres is decreasing- the newest Michelin PR4 is not made in an 18" diameter.
Did you stay with the same aspect tyre?
Changing from a 160/60-18 to a 160/60-17 would drop the rear of the bike by 1/2", slowing steering (I don't want to compensate by raising the fork tubes)
I would actually like to decrease highway revs, but that would require a tyre size of 160/70-17. That would raise the rear by 3/8", effectively quickening the steering slightly.
Thoughts?
I do like what you did to your K bike. _________________ John & Cathy

Hi all , The breather was plugged into a pcv valve and plumbed into the tube connecting the throttlebodies as described in a thread somewhere on this site. the colour is a Mitsubishi called burra red. rear tre is a 170/60 /17 it does gear it down slightly .The rear rim is off a r 1150 rt and has a different offset giving more clearance to swing arm . A k1200 rim will run the 160 with a very small amount of clearance .but never had a problem on my lt which runs one.
