Hi

How to set the timing on K1100 ?
Merging two engines into one due to crashed bearing in the back of the engine with destroyed backend of the crankcase.
Have to move the hall pick up a.s.o. between the engines.

Found the timing poiint are 6 degrees BTDP.
ref. according to the offical workshop manual page 12.6, the igition timing are statically set 6 degrees before Top Dead Point "OT".

Removing 1 cyl ignition plug, place the plug on engine with wire connected.
Place the engine in 6 d BTDP, ignition on and turn the ignition pickup plate unit spark on the free 1'st spark plug.

Looking at the front of the engine, line up the notch in the right side of the HES plate with the notch where it mounts. No timing light is required. I've always done it that way and every time I checked it with a timing light it was spot on so no longer bother with a timing light.
