I have 2 GPS navigation units which I can use on the bike (One is an adapted car unit)

Both display the speed they suggest I am doing and both are pretty much the same, but neither agree with the bike speedometer.

If the bike speedometer is showing 30mph, the satnav(s) will show 28. At 40 on the speedo the satnav will be showing 37, and so on.

For each 10MPH increase in speed indicated by the bike's speedometer the satnav's show an increased discrepancy of about 3/4 mph so at 70 the satnav will be around 65 mph until 80 when it seems to stick at that level of difference.

So which is the most accurate the bike speedometer or the Satnav?

The bike speedo's seem to be off between 5-10% by design.........

There is some adjustment you can make inside the cluster, but it's limited.

I turned the screw - didn't bother with the soldering iron. Just sort of took a guess at how far to turn it. My speedo is about 1/10th of a mile off - maybe. Almost spot on. That's sure to get me in trouble one of these days...

I can only speak for my own bike...but it's off by a solid 10%...which sucks...but makes it easy to calculate your actual speed. 80 indicated is 72.

Having owned 19 Ks the speedometer is always about 10% high.

I had my bike on the dyno a little while back, and the tester noted that my speedo starts gradually under reading from 30 mph. By the time it's showing 70, the true speed is 61.
