I am trying to reinstall ABS on my bike after the PO removed it.
I have got hold of modulators, the ABS brain and a few other bits and bobs including three hard lines.
I am having a problem working out exactly how and where those lines install.
Of the three lines two are much longer than the third and the shorter one of the two long ones has a wider thread on it than the others. There is, as far as I can see, only one place that can screw in and that it is the bottom hole on the LHS modulator. So the longer one of the two long ones goes to the top hole on the LHS modulator. The shortest line of the three has a big nearly 90 degree curve in it.
This is my problem. I have searched and searched as to the correct connections for these three pipes and what little info I found was contradictory.
The fiche on Max BMW seems to indicate that the short hose and the middle hose from the bottom of the modulator connect and then connect to the brake lever. However this post
http://www.kbikeparts.com/classickbikes.com/ckb.tech/0.ckb.tech.files/abs/abs.htm
seems to indicate it is the other way around and that the brake lever pipe goes to the top of the modulator and the caliper to the bottom.
Does any one know for sure? I think the latter is probably correct because I am 100% sure that the back brake modulator is like that, lever to the top, caliper to the bottom.
However is that is the case I cannot work out how to connect and route the short line through the frame etc.
Help!

I've looked at both Max's and Realoem's web sites and the both use the same image, that is different than the diagram from Drake.
I don't own an ABS1 bike, nor have I worked on one, so I can't say one way or the other.
Someone will be along soon that is familiar with the ABS1 that will know better than I. _________________ Ride safe.

Finally had time to look at the arrangement and take some pictures.
Coming from the ABS modulator on the left side
As it goes forward, the line that was the lower connection at the modulator remains as the lower line in this picture
Now under the rear of the fuel tank, the lines transition from one above the other to being side by side. The line that was the upper one becomes the line that is closer to the midline of the frame while the lower one is now closer to the left hand grip- so looking forward the lines do a clockwise twist. In the following picture, right above my finger is the line that comes from the lower connection back at the modulator and doesn't have any tubing junction here. The other line (the one from the upper modulator connection) DOES have a junction here to the next piece of tubing.
OK- does this clear things up or do you need to see what is going on further forward? Let me know- I'll try to help further if needed. _________________ John & Cathy

Ok that is a great start. Now the key question remains - where does it go from there. The one closer tot he mid lie of the bike that connects to the top hole in the modulator - does it now connect directly to a flexible brake hose that goes to the brake lever on the handle bars? Or does it connect to another hard line and connect to a flexible hose coming from the forks where it splits into two one to each caliper? That is the bit that has me confused...
Thanks very much for going to all this trouble, it is a life saver - probably literally if I did it wrong and then tried to ride the bike! _________________ 1991 K100RS with K1100 RS fairing

Got your answer.
Again in this picture-
That junction just to the left of the clamp is where the rubber hose from the front brake lever attaches. So the line closer to my finger is going to the calipers. _________________ John & Cathy

That is exactly what I needed! So in the end the fiche is wrong - the line coming from the lower hole in the modulator connects to the calipers and the upper line connects to the brake lever.
I should never have doubted Drake!!
I will be able to connect everything up now, it might not end up looking pretty but at least the right hose will go to the right place.
Thanks again for your help. _________________ 1991 K100RS with K1100 RS fairing
