Hi all

My battery is stone dead and i cant figure out how to change it!

Had a quick look through my clymer manual and then set to work

Took the seat off no probs.

Then i stalled

Doesn't look anything like the pictures in the manual

Had a look at the pdf manual i got off here

Doesn't look like that one either

The electrical thing (ABS is it) on the top is actually connected to a big metal thing that's rubber mounted. Battery is under that and it's not clear to me how to get to it.

Even removing the electrical connector isn't happening. Lol. On my old XT600 i just pulled off a panel and slid the battery out!

Would really appreciate some help here as i really want to get the bike moving. I've been away so it's not budged for a couple of months.

Cheers.

There's a metal clip under where the wiring enters the connector that needs to be pushed back. Then rotate up the wiring side of the connector to remove it.

The thing on top of the battery is the ECU, it has to come off. The electrical connector has a metal clip on one end then pivots to come free. Then you'll see mounting screws to remove the ECU to get to the batter underneath. Always remove the negative terminal first, and connect it last.

Thanks for that information. One of my K75's will need a new battery very shortley and these are £15 cheaper than a one I would normnally buy.

The size given in the advert are all the same give or take a millimeter or two compared to my present one. They will certainly fit a K1100, 'cos the one that needs replacing, came of my last K1100 before I sold it.

Hi

So replaced battery with the one linked above.

Works great. Bike starts and sounds fine after sitting for a few months.

Just one more query. There's a wee connector the comes out of the negative battery lead. Is it a ground? There is a tab on the metal thing that the ECU clips on to that really looks like it's meant for this wee connector.

Anybody know if it is?.

Yes, there's a brown ground wire that attaches to the terminal on the back of the Motronic.

Thanks again

Be careful using that Clymer manual. Like most of them, it's a book of lies.
