Hi All.
I want to try and reduce the lean angle of the bike.
By removing the bolt, Im wary that because of limited space, I wont be able to juggle the parts mechanism back into place.I dont want to remove the exhaust.
I cant raise the bike up for better visuals!

I disabled the engine cut off years ago on the side stand.
My question is. Is removing the cut of plate mechanism and spring on the side stand possible, or does it upset some BMW configuration??

Thank you

More often than not, riders will just add a small foot to the end of the stand to help it stand taller, in addition to updating the bushing/bolt as they will wear and increase the lean angle with age.
You can't add too much or it will interfere with the center stand when folded.

Removing the side stand switch won't change the lean angle.

Those silver plates that rotate around up at the side stand pivot do more than trigger the side stand switch. They also control the springs that hold the side stand up when it's retracted so you do not want to remove them.

Hi
Thank you for your replies and thoughts.

The bike has 138.000 miles on the clock, most of them mine. That bush must be due for replacement and/or, add some washers, as required on the bolt to reduce excess play.
With limited finger space, and not able to raise the bike up higher from the floor. I sense its going to be very awkward to replace the bolt with the plates and springs back together again. Correct??

Thank you

It's probably "easiest" to do if you remove the exhaust.

Take a picture of it before you disassemble. Will make reassembly easier.

To detach and attach the springs loop a piece of wire or string around the "hook" at the end of the spring and pull on it to extend the spring.
