Stu - I've got a bunch of stuff hooked up to mine, but I don't like it. Getting ready to put an Eastern Beaver fuse block in to get rid of all the stuff on the pos.itive terminal. You might want to take a look at adding a fuse block. |

Don't think the battery would care about most of those items as the load shed relay should drop them out. Your alternator would care though. _________________ 1993 K1100LT

I like the odyssey. I sleep with my cpap on for 8 hours and it starts the bike fine in the morning. Its lighter than most other batteries. _________________ 93 K1100LT

My first Odyssey lasted 5 years or so but it had a checkered past. (Several deep discharges and also some periods of inactivity not on a charger.) For what it went through I think five years is pretty good. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Hello all....
Ditto on the Odyssey 680 PC ! I bought one for my R100/7 ( Airhead ) in 1995 and its still doing the job ! Pricey at first, BUT: no maintenance and very long life ! For the K1100LT however, be sure to get the "conversion posts" so the the cables will fit straight in ! Also the case is a very tight fit in the limited K1100 space provided and you'll need to fabricate an insulator board to cap the top so that the bottom of the Motronic does not make contact with battery terminals.
Have fun.....// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

I've never seen the need for those conversion posts and I've run PC680s on numerous Ks. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

That's it. The MJ stands for "metal jacket" and mine was covered in black MJ.
$119 is a good price. I bought mine back in the day for $93, free shipping off of EBay so shop around. Hell, I ain't doing nothin' but recuperating so maybe I'll have a look![/list] _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

I was surprised that the Odyssey only has 220 CCA. |

Stu, $119 for the MJ is a good price. Couldn't find a regular one for less than that and if you do, you can save the the MJ and use it on the next one.
They were going for almost $200 on EBay. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

I guess if you were going to use it in a snowmachine.....
Which is possible. All I know is when I hit the button on the K the starter stands right to attention! _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

I ordered a PC 680mj!
What are other good fuse block options? I see stuff advertised in BMW MOA magazine but would like others opinions. _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |

I put an Odessy in 2 years ago, I was surprised how well the engine spun when I hit the start button. No more voltage drops and ABS faults. The battery has been doing great, I had a BMW battery ($170!) that lasted a year. Keep a tender on the Odessy, or disconnect the negative lead for storage.
For the fellow asking about the smallest battery, I wouldn't go smaller, it is a bigger engine with lots of shafts to turn, so too much is just enough. _________________ 93 K1100LT mystic red, et al |

Awww, c'mon - it's only money...
I have an email in to Shorai - I think they have something that will fit our bikes - not sure. MCN tested the Shorai batteries - the results look good, so far. I'd pay twice as much for a battery that weighs about 1/6 and lasts twice as long... http://www.shoraipower.com/default.aspx _________________ Jim

Don't know how long it will last, but there are no signs that it is going away any time soon.

Open mouth, insert foot. Took the LT home on Wed night because Thur was going to be a nice day. Went out to the garage on Thur morning and the bike would barely crank over. It finally lit and I was able to get to work.
Bike was stored over the winter in my heated shop, so no issues there. The garage at home is not heated and it was in the mid 20's overnight. Guess it's time for a new battery afterall _________________ 1993 K1100LT

Here's the info on the Shorai battery - check out the spec's. 2 Ah more than the Odyssey, and weighs a hair over 2 pounds. Costs twice as much - but supposed to last twice as long. It's a lot smaller than the stock/Odyssey battery, too. The other drawback - requires their charger.
