Took my new front PR2 down the street from my dad's place to get it mounted at an indy shop. They had a K75 in there. It only had 8,241 miles on it and was covered in dust. I can't imagine why the vibration mounting ring had disolved and the fuel pump was frozen. Rolling Eyes

Pretty sure the mileage was legit because I checked out a few other telltales I know of to see if the odometer was telling the truth.

I wonder, when older very low mileage bikes like this show up, if maybe something broke on them and the owner just didn't bother to get the problem fixed.

Just received my new PR2 this week from Amazon/Motorcycle Superstore. Will have it mounted in time for Hungry Mother.

I think people buy the bikes, put a few miles on them, leave them in the back of the garage, get old, never ride again and then the wife gets rid of it when they die. I know of a guy in Seattle who bought a low mile bike from a history like that.

The 95 R1100GS I just bought was exactly that. The guy put 15,000 mile on it from 95-97, didn't ride again, died and the wife sold it.

Not that I'm a fan of taking advantage of old widows but you can get some good deals that way. I doubt many of these gals have any idea of what an "old" motorcycle is worth.

The guy I know paid $2,400 for a clean low mile K75S without bags. (He bought some bags from me off of CL which is how I knew about his deal.) That was ten years ago though.

Buddy of mine goes to check out a '68 Camaro. He had thoughts of doing a conversion to a SS. Gets there and it is an SS in pristine condition with about 5,000 miles on it. (This was in 1985) The lady has done her research and asks for blue book value, for a plain straight 6 equipped Camaro. Cash left his pockets so quickly it almost caught fire. He won several car shows because it was original like new.
