Hmmm, those cases look familiar. I have them on mine too. They work fine and are a little thinner than the big ones I used to have.

Just what I mentioned to Ernie- this one would average 430 or so miles per year.

There's three generations of system cases:

First gen - mid 80s: Reflector and roundel are next to each other with flat locks. (Like the ones on the ebay bike.)

Second gen - late 80s and 90: Reflector and roundel together but round locks pointed inwards.

Third gen - 91 on: Roundel and reflector not next not each other and round locks pointed outwards. These are slightly larger than the first and second gen cases and more waterproof. They also have rubber scuff pads on the bottom and leading edge.

K1100s came with third gen system cases:

Seller: "It'll make you a great sport-tourer, and it's a heck of a value - especially when you consider that this is probably the newest, best optioned, and lowest mileage example of this model in the U.S. "
Really.

and of course now that you point it out and post the pic i realize i don't have those cases from the ebay listing but rather the real k11 cases. XD my detail retention can be pretty bad sometimes.

In my case the previous owner had dropped the bike on the right side. I bought the bike and it runs fine and is not bent, but the right side case is kinda tweeked a bit. Fast forward a few years and I am in the parking lot of a MSF Experienced riders course and the case falls apart in my hands. All of the plastic ridge that holds the plastic hinge in place is shot. Found a set of bags in the MOA marketplace and bought them very cheaply. Work a charm, and I actually like the smaller size easier to lane split when the need arises.

Yea, I found that guy on Craigslist here a while back. Hayden is about 15 miles from my home. He seems a little delusional.

I'll bet that the red one is faster.

You could get a lower mile K1200RS for less than that from a dealer.

Maybe the owner polished it with unicorn tears.

A few years ago prices were a lot higher. Lots of guys haven't paid attention and seen the prices falling in the past couple years, for almost all used bikes (including Harleys). Only really exceptional and/or rare bikes that have some special interest seem to do better. A long term recession brings down prices on a lot of items that are considered toys - sportscars, motorcycles, planes, boats, etc.

That said, I'd probably pay a bit more for a silver and black SE Laughing

Yes and then drank the left over tears... Rolling Eyes

We call it 'dreaming' instead of delusional, but fleabay non-interest often sorts it out.

The prices I am seeing are making me feel better about the 94 LT I bought for 2k with 68k miles back in October.
Bike did have a slipping clutch due to o-ring leakage. Put another $1250 in parts though.( Clutch parts and all hoses, new brakes, new tires and Corbin seat from ebay) Learned a lot in the process thanks to this site.
Hope the picture shows up.

Nothing like a slipping clutch to get you to learn all about a brick, huh?

I think that was the turning point for me too. Until then I had done fork seals & gaiters and taken care of the odd leak. But once I had to split the bike essentially in half I didn't hesitate to do just about any other repairs.

BTW, nice brick there, mr 10brook
