Final drive cap went missing some time last fall, I guess, and the drive had water in it when I drained it. Should I just refill with fluid and go or dry it out completely somehow before refilling?
I need to order the .80 part but I'm thinking saran wrap and a rubber band will work til it gets here. Suggestions?

Just checked Max's shipping on .80 part. $13 and change to get it here. Wow.

Dry it first.

I don't know the best way to dry the final drive. About all you can do is drain it. Drain, ride, and refill about three or four times. It doesn't hold that much.

I agree with Jim. But the cheapest bottle of 90W you can find. Run that through three times and then put whatever you normally use in there and forget about it.

I used compressed air and my wifes old hair dryer. Spent about 30 minutes blowing in each of the 3 holes. It's gotta be dry! May change the fluid again earlier than usual but I think I'm O.K.
The oil was floating on top of the water so the water came out first followed by the oil but there may have been some condensation.

Heating the rear drive with a heat gun or hair dryer should do the job.
