This Yamaha xz550 Vision is a late '82 RJ model that at the dealership was retrofitted with a kit for a full fairing designed for '83 RK models.
Since purchased new, the front brake line was upgraded to braided steel and '83 passenger rear pegs were added. Otherwise, it's completely original, even the glossy paint! However, a year ago I did a low-speed slide and created some road rash and the worst damage is a 5-inch scrape on the upper fairing. The owner of a local Yamaha dealership looked it over and rode the bike and then said, "if not for the fairing scrape its a $2,500 bike". I've replaced the mirror, and signal with NOS. Included is a NOS Thermostat housing to replace the one on the bike.
Currently, she runs good but starting it can be a challenge when parked for a week or two. After cleaning the carbs last year it could use an adjustment, like synchronizing the carbs.
This is an award-winning show bike. At least two awards on record, with the previous owner who showed it in Corvallis, OR and when I showed it in Issaquah, WA.
