Hi,

I need to remove my centre/side stand bracket to replace the cut-out switch and also to remove the spacers. I started to undo one of the bolts and it was very stiff, even after the initial movement.

Is this normal (ie are they thread-locked?) or am I about to shear the bolt?

Thanks in advance.

PS - any great suggestions about how to support the bike while I remove it? My friend holding the bike up was getting bored, and he may have to hold it for a while if I shear all the bolts!

What was your plan if it came off easy?

Whip out the spacers, replace the switch, bolt back on, then send the bored friend home. Figured it was only four bolts, 30 mins max...

The bolts are "supposed" to be a one time use bolt, but many have reused them with no issues. Yes there is some thread resistance to prevent them from working themsleves loose. I have used some thread locker when reinstalling them.

I normally use one of those 'cruiser stands' when I do work like that; one of those square frames with a handle. Works like a charm.
