Good morning all...
Hey... for all you guys headed to HMSP ( I'm envious of course..) BUT having just looked at the national weather map, I'm hoping those like Scott and Bob and the others from the midwest manage not to get soaked through and through !! Have a safe ride all, and for Phil and me, enjoy a hot Irish coffee once you get there !
Have fun..............// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

In Asheville, just joined the "I dropped my K bike " club. Slow speed parking lot drop . Left mirror and a latch broke. Pride hurt worst of all. See you at HMSP. _________________ 1995 K1100 LT

Hi Shogs... Hi Marion....
(( this is the way Phil and I made and enjoyed them together ! ))
OK: Irish Coffee... 6oz very hot black strong coffee...
1 heaping teaspoon sugar..
2+ oz. Irish Whiskey ( or whatever is handy )
**** Stir well in a tall mug
Lastly, float on 2 tblsp slightly whipped heavy cream
sprinkle on a "tad" more sugar.
..... serve as many as you like until feeling warm and merry !
Have fun all, wish I could be with you......// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Ernie,
Wish you were here too!
Had a different kind of trip here- towing the bikes instead of the I-91/84/81 riding drone was a bit more relaxed, especially since Jen, our daughter, did most of the driving. Dad and Mom relaxed.
But with Phil missing it also feels different.
Weather looks to be good for the next couple days with maybe a shower or two thrown in- but that's normal springtime SW Virginia, right?
Hope to have lots of ride pictures posted (today? tomorrow?)
See you soon- maybe meet up with Jim at his farm.

Home safe and sound....left at 8:30 got home at 2:35. Nice fast ride home with nice cool grey weather, a little light rain, but mostly nice and comfortable. Total trip mileage, 988 miles.
I had a great trip! The weather was better than usual and the company was awesome. We had a 150 mile corner clinic ride on Friday with Steverino leading the way and taking us on some of the most incredible roads I've ever ridden on. That was as many twisties as I usually get in a whole year. Thanks Steve!
Gwen did a great job of keeping us fed, thanks Gwen! (and Marion, and Cathy).
And thanks to Jim as usual for setting it all up!
I didn't take a whole lot of photos as there were many with far better equipment and ability taking a lot of pictures, I hope to see them soon.
Sugarhill and family at a pullout overlook. Notice the big hairpin further down behind them.
The view from that lookout across the valley.
Some of the gang hanging.
A break stop during the twisties ride.
The guys didn't give me too much flak for taking the new bike....not a K.
Already looking forward to next year! _________________ Steve

Back home safe and sound from HMSP V. Accept for about 15 miles of rain on the BRP a good ride home. Thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome. Jim, once again thanks for getting me in at the last minute and setting up the Lodge. A great gathering place. Gwen, thanks for the tutorial on my transmission and clutch and for hauling half your house up there so we would have adequate kitchen supplies. Audi, appreciate the advice on the tires and Scott thanks for the pop rivets so I could repair my latch. Picked up a lot of information on the bike and got some great suggestions from you all! Look forward to next year.
Be safe,

We got home about 1645. All unpacked and unloaded now.
As usual it was a magical time surrounded by friends old and new, bikes and bike talk, rain and food, rides and dropped bikes.
You are all welcome. It was truly my pleasure.
FWIW I'm IN on the Wednesday start date.
Second, I'm NOT bringing the dogs next year. Too much bother.
Audi, here's a re-post of 2011 pics.

I'll upload these in two days.
I have some other things that need attention right now.
Love ya all,

Some of these pics were taken on my drive up to HMSP 5. I'll leave the best shots to Steven, Donna and the others.
A nice LT with side car I saw on the BRP @ Mt Mitchell

Home.
Just pulled in at 7:45. 14 and 3/4 hours. Would have been faster but (!@#X%$&!!) crawling traffic before the Tappan Zee Bridge put us behind 1/2 an hour.
But Jen did a large amount of the driving.
Anyway, thanks to all for HM5. The three of us had a really good time. Great people and eats plus fun roads. Who could ask for more?
Well, looks like we have asked for more- more HM and I'm also in for an additional day. _________________ John & Cathy

Home safe and sound. 9.5 hours of fun riding, last 15 minutes light rain. I'll take that.
Great seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. Hope we can do it all again next year. Great rides this year and decent weather.
Many thanks to you organizers, great food and accommodations as usual. _________________ '93 K1100LT

HOME!!
We took 16 south to the Blue ridge Parkway, and then stoped at Black Balsam to let Phil's ashes catch a ride on the wind......Ken had never met Phil, but had a good understanding of his persona after spending the weekend with everyone at HMSP.....420 miles in 10 hours.......
Great to see everyone again....Godspeed Phil.......

I rolled in at 8:20Pm CST time. Left about 9:15 AM EST.
730 miles. I get an hour back, so that's just over 10 hours of brutal slab & dodge em to get home.
The bike felt a bit more vibration at my regualr lucky 77 today, so 83 was the new norm with several wicks to the ton when space was needed. After all it only takes a blink.
No driving awards and only one close call. I don't think he could get turned around fast enough to come after me.
Heavy rain that I clocked at 50 miles across just south of Chicago. Then it cleared, but I ran into more again 20 minutes from home.
Temps from 58 this morning to 88 in Indiana, and 50 and wet arriving home.
Best to all and hope everyone else is home safe too. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!
