If you're in need of new sound then don't get a Staintune, get a Remus.
The Staintune is a quiet exhaust and pretty close to the stock sound. (Which is why I like them.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Ken,
I contacted Remus last fall and they still have the K11 system for sale. Just lots of $$$. Here is a copy of their email to me:
Dear John –

(the prices below are for the muffler section- sport louder than street)
Innovation Aluminum / Street

$379.-
Innovation Aluminum / Sport
2103 087086
$368.-

Last year Scott_Anderson bought a new Remus system for his LT. You might want to contact him about his experience
I didn't know if you wanted new or previously owned (used).

I fitted a remus on my k11lt last autumn - man its loud and also not easy to get a neat fit. the collar from the silencer seems too short??
was a lot of money for a headache for those dB when at motorway speed
thinking about going back to a stock part? |

I think there's two versions of the Remus, street and sport. The street is kinda loud, the sport is LOUD. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I must have sport because LOUD doesn't even begin to describe it! Slowly feed the gas back on from over-run and you think the can fell off behind you..!!
wonder if there are other maufacturers cans that slip onto the remus header pipe (diameter wise)? Is it a standard pipe size if there is such a thing?
Anybody got advice on a "quiet" one .... |

What I bought in 12/09 was:
0101 087589 Header assy.
2103 087086 Alum Sport Muffler assy.
1 drawback over the stock bmw exhaust on the LT is that I have to remove the can to change/remove the rear wheel/tire.
The sound is louder compared to stock, but not what I would call "obnoxious" as some V-Twins.
As I ride with earplugs and ff helmet I don't notice that much difference when riding.
Delivered price was just under $900.
Purchased thru Maxmoto of Emeryville, CA. _________________ Ride safe.

I REALLY like my Staintune. It sounds great and not too obnoxious, well unless at WOT it roars "I'm coming thru!"
My only comparison is the Staintune on my K1100RS to a Super trapp on a 1985 K100RS, which sounded good too. I'm not familiar with how a Remus sounds.
As far as looks go, IMHO the Staintune looks good and compliments the appearance of the bike better than stock and the Remus...no offense to those running Remus. |

+1 on Remus. Must have the "quiet" one as it just added a little throat to the sound. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

Will the CA people be looking to unload theirs now that the new "stock" exhaust law passed in CA. It is going to change a lot of things. I can see many exhaust systems becoming available and company not making them now that a huge chunk of the US market is not legally able to buy them. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Too bad - it would be nice if they could do something about all the A-holes that feel the need to run straight pipes on their hogs. _________________ 2012 R1200RT Midnight Blue

Its not a Remus but I have found and am in the process of buying a Staintune.
Well actually, it found me.
I had a Staintune on an Airhead, hopefully I will like this one as much.
