I followed the advice in this forum and bought a Purolator Facet FEP 2042
fuel pump for my K 11 LT from Ebay.
To close the gap between the pump and the original vibration damper
I made this aluminum adapter.
My LT is not running yet, so to test it I put the new pump in my K1.
I put over 500 Miles on it so far and no problems.
The original pre filter is a bi$%& to instal ,you can't control its position under the mounting tray in the tank. The pump sucked air at low fuel levels and stalled the bike, so I used the original basket type pre filter.
This eliminated the problem.

The pre filter should be easy to install - it goes on the black outer part first - then you slide the adapter and pump in. If you put the adapter or pump in first, it is almost impossible to get the pre filter on.

Hello Jim
Are you talking about the original BMW pre filter that hooks up to the
vibration damper?
I have this one installed right now.
The problem is with the pre filter that is delivered with the pump.
It's a long hose like filter that connects to the small diameter of the pump.
I assume the filter or part of it point upward and suck in air.
Next weekend I will put a picture of the filter in here. _________________ 86 R80G/S

Sorry!
All I have is a vernier caliper and a old lathe.
I have to make a second adapter, and I will write down the dimensions.
In a nutshell.
The inner diam. of the adapter is the outer diam. of the pump
minus a hair, so the adapter will clamp the pump after it is split.
The outer diam. and the two humps are the same than the original pump.
The length is the same then the vibration damper.

If there is interest, I can set up a local machinist to make some. I also have a lathe myself and can make a few if anyone is stuck. Once the drawing is available, I will work up a cost.
I will distribute them at cost plus shipping for anyone in KOG.

Hello
Here is a more simple way to make the fuel pump adapter.
I replaced the split design with a set screw.
The inside diam. must not be as precise as in the split design.
I am concerned about the single point of pressure on the pump body by the set screw.
Any body knows the internals of this pumps and the best location for the set screw?
Here is the dimensioned drawing.
Sorry it's so small.
The split and the set screw are not included in this drawing.
It's done in ACAD 2009 and exported as a bitmap.
How can I make this bigger?

Have you found a way to better reproduce your drawing so that the rest of us can read it ?? Perhaps if you made a hand-sketch with large clear dimensions and then simply took a photo for pasting here on the forum, we could all then decide how best to make it from individual resources... Give it a try, since many of us would like to fab up an alternative pump solution as you did.

I had this same idea about two months ago, but was going to 'shrink' fit them on pump.
Then I found these at Euro Motoelectric:

Yeppir! I was really into it, got a CNC machinist as a buddy, got a 'loaner 52 mm [most failures], was going to get 2 doz [both sizes] made.
Bought [3] pumps off Ebay. Seller doesn't charge much additional shipping, btw.
I couldn't feel right about myself knowing there's a cheap alternative available...........
