Anyone got an extra pair of these?
Jeeves offered to help me find a pair of barbacks at a good price. Anyone care to join? My neck and back are starting to issue warning sings...

I believe at least one K-RS owner here went with slightly different handlebars (Paul Edlington in NZ did, I think)
I mention this since barbacks seem to be hard to find.
Also, you should know that using barbacks results in an odd arrangement. The dash pad (that black thing with the switches on it) also moves rearward with the bars- but the key switch does not. This results in you having to do some surgery to cut access for the key. I have seen some done well and others that look like they used an axe.
Using handlebars from a different model BMW eliminates that cutting.
If this might interest you I will look into it further- I think that Paul is back in NZ- he was at the IOM TT.
Just a suggestion.

This is very true. Here's a picture of my arrangement. Notice the clever use of the BMW roundel to cover the old keyhole. 
The key is a bit awkward, but I have the folding key and it fits nicely under there, you just have to gently lift up the plastic a bit to get it out of the cylinder.
A further out picture.
But the important thing for me was being able to convert it back to being stock if I or a future owner wanted to, which I can do with this set up.

Nice mod/compromise.
The original '94 K-RS I had for a few weeks (before the dealer volunteered to take it back) had a barely acceptable cut up dash pad.
Your set up looks much better.

Thanks for both suggestions. MV's sollution is entirely new to me!  It sure solves the crash-pad question. It's a more noticeable modification, but it's interesting. I'll get more information on that. Thanks!
As for A&S', I "discovered" it recently. What I'm trying is not to spend too much money. A&S charges more for the post and package to Europe than for the barbacks... I'm looking for used ones.
John, if you could look further into Paul's sollution, I'd be appreciated. And yes, I understand that the dash-pad is tough to modify in a clean way. I too have a folding key, so maybe I won't need to change anything.
Actually, my interest in the barbacks started with Skdonlan's mod. His risers are hand-made (I think I can say that); so I didn't even know that there was A&S' serial until recently. I find this a discrete sollution, probably the best. I don't want to cut the pad.
Steve, I'm actually inspiring myself on your project, both to add the barbacks and the Aeroflow screen (and the BMW roundel of course, "perfect" to hide the ignition hole). Ideas for when I can get there... This costs a bit more than I can spend right now. Thus, this used barback thread...

Just looking through this old thread and couldn't help but post this photo from it of an RS with LT bars fitted.
That lean angle is incredible. With full bags! My bike took a little nap last week when I mistakenly didn't deploy my side stand and got a little rash right where the one is this photo is almost touching down.
Think I could say, " I had it way leaned over and heard this sound..."

The one problem with the RS is that the bags hit before the pegs scrape.
And why does that guy have Gen 2 bags on a K1100?
