Pihl stopped by the house this afternoon; he'd driven back from Dallas to El Paso and then over to Arizona; now he's getting ready to drive back tomorrow to Dallas (has a doctor's appointment) but then will be heading back west later in the week.
Just in case folks think he was blowing feel-good smoke, he is looking good (although a bit slimmer, though not yet svelte) and as optimistic in person as he has been here on the forum.
So keep your prayers and good wishes coming to him; they seem to have been working so far.
