Hi Guys,

a lot of you have dealt with Pompadour over on the "other site" re: the last US group buy.

Three things have occurred since -

1 - Pompadour does not have the time to do another GB - also he had a major headache with the logistics on the US side. Rolling Eyes

2 - I have had direct enquiries from 8 interested parties for another US gb. - Some couldn't wait [ 3 !] and have had them sent individually. Laughing

3 - A very satisfied customer from the first gb has thrown his hat into the ring for organising another gb - and ultimately setting up as a US distribution point / agent.

Those that expressed an iterest - watch this space [ or the other one !!!!!!!!!] Cool

Hey, Beachcomber ........ I wish there was away to figure out the exact cost of one of your shocks. I visited the "REALM" website and the best I can come up with is : Stock size K1100LT shock is CM380/11 .... then it gets confusing. The price is about 225 pounds sterling ... + VAT (don't know exactly what that amounts to) ..... and ex-work (what is this?). Then there is something I heard about 10% discount for K11OG members. And who can tell me what shipping is to Michigan, USA? So, by looking at your website, I can't determine the total cost of a shock.
Jerry

Any chance K1100 beefier progressive fork springs will be available soon enough for this group buy?

(I'm the one who moved this from Tech to For Sale.)

Hey Jerry,

yes sorry about that - the website is geared to the UK market as the base. The reason for this is that with all the options on monetory exchange rates / internal taxes / and etc. it could get very messy !! Don't forget we are now dealing Worldwide in 10 different currencies !

All you need to know is - [ and you other guys]

As a US resident you do NOT pay English vat - whammo - just saved 17.5% !! Actually increasing to 20% in Jan 2011.

At the moment - the US authorities seem unninterested in collecting any tax [ shhh, don't tell them ! ]

The UK price is [ for your shock correctly identified as CM380/11 ] £225.00 [ for the complete kit.]And the best for last - You DO qualify for 10% club discount = £202.50

Individual one off carriage is £32.00 via secure insured and tracked shipment - a group buy will probably save you £10 overall after you pay internal US carriage. BTW - spoke to "our man in the US" today, he will be finalising internal US shipping and etc. vey soon.

Assuming you order as a one off that makes £234.50 all in door to door.
Usually takes less than 7 days.
Finally you can pay by credit card through secure merchant station at Realm Engineering Ltd. - or by Paypal. regrettably there WILL be a 2% oncost for Paypal payments as from Jan 2011. Don't blame us for their greed !!!

Duck, sorry missed your reply out.

We are very much hoping to get the springs available very soon ...before the next buy - not sure, that COULD be only 4-5 weeks away.

We are happy with the performance of the prototype springs [ back to back with my Hagons]. But there are several associated matters to deal with, not the least being the initial quantity we commit to, which will influence the price. I'll keep you all posted.

I've got a spare set of forks awaiting fork seals and while I'm at it I'd like to try some of your springs so I'll hold off working on those forks until you're ready. FYI: I'm probably interested in 2 or 3 sets.

Duck,
I'll do my best to get the springs asap..............

BTW - our man is ready to go and will introduce himself shortly. As far as I can tell there are at least another 6-7 people out there waiting for a group buy to be arranged, so 10 should be an easy target.

Well, whenever you can get them out is good with me. I've lived with the stocker springs so far so I just MIGHT be able to survive a little longer. Laughing

My next big ride isn't until the 20th or so of November when I take a bike down the coast to SoCal for the winter so getting them by then would be cool but it won't be the end of the world if I don't have them by then.

Hey, BC: Looks like you won't have much problem peddling the springs. Note that they'll also work in K!00RS4V bikes.

It's a Godsend to have you around since the aftermarket seems to have ignored the 4V bikes to a large extent.

If you ever come to Seattle I'll warm up some beer for you. Laughing

I can imagine that those who already have the RAM shock will NEED to upgrade [ as I did ] the front end - unless already done.

Soooo, I'm going to guestimate that there at at least 20 potential front spring sales out there, not counting new orders.

The price break to Realm is 50 and then 200 [ !! ], AC is currently trying to get a price for a 1st order to 100 - a bit more manageable.

I can also imagine that guys in the future would want to consider a front / rear package, which would obviously save on carriage.

I can't emphasise enough the difference it made to my bikes to fit decent front springs AFTER fitting the RAM rear. Initially I used Hagon - which made a noticeable difference. We then got our spring guys to analyse the various options and then I fitted the RAM prototypes. If I'm honest [ and I am ] it wasn't noticeably better than the Hagon apart from long undulating sweepers with a load aboard [ passenger and luggage ] - then it came into it's own over the Hagon.

Not only do front springs get neglected in general maintainance, but there's no quick way of telling if they've sagged or BROKEN [ as one of my bikes ].

I'll find out today how many variations we are talking about to cover the 75 / 100 / 1100 [ thanx for the headsup Duck on the 100 4V ]. MAYBE we can persuade the spring manufacturer to look at 200 springs in total, rather than of each type [ ouch ].

A show of hands [ as Steve / Duck / Roadscum ] for the front springs would be a big help to reach that 100 [ or 200 if they insist].

Duck, as you know - this is a selfish mission of mine BECAUSE I couldn't get any decent parts at good prices - I / WE are just fortunate that my old trading buddy Adrian still believes in me and will risk a hefty investment on my say so.

Now then - I nearly went with Moto Guzzi's as playthings .......................

Carp,

as previously - we are currently waiting to see the sort of quantities that need to be ordered for a good deal.

These will not be inexpensive [ as the shox ] - 2 reasons, 1 - we have been using the same shocker manufacturer for 25+ years so we have good leverage - spring man for only 2 years, and secondly we are looking for QUALITY springs.

Sure we can get a run of the mill spring mnufacturer to make these - but this guy specialises in COMPETITION grade products - that'll do for us.

That said, they should be no dearer than the current quality products already out there - but you WILL qualify for club 10% d/c.

Also - the fork springs are made to be compatible with the RAM shocker.

I have been using a YSS shock for the last few years and love it. Also the people at YSS are willing to give K11OG members 10% off on both shocks and fork springs. He will even give 10% off on service. He also will install fork springs for those that dont want to do it them self. and once again 10% off on the labor. Also we all know that shocks do need to be services after a while. He has fast turn around on shock service and now offers both YSS and HyperPro shocks. He can also custom design a shock for peope like myself who are vertically challanged. I have a low shock on my K11LT. They also offer a varity of different springs for the larger people and those that do most riding 2 up. Check out the web page and if you have questions they are very willing to answer them. I am local to them so for me if is jsut a short ride to get there. But no matter where you are in the country it has to be closer then England. The web site is http://www.epmperf.com/ CHeck it out. Be sure to tell them you are a mamber of the K11OG to get the 10%off

Glad to see that YSS are NOW offering 10% to club members, and yes my geography tells me they are a lot closer than England. Wink

As stated before, there are MANY fine shox out there - you pays your money and makes yer choice - free market. Cool

Please excuse the recent lack of coms. When I got back from my break I found my PC had been hacked and apart from a nasty virus my e-mail account was also blocked.

I'm flagging up the situation on the forum so folk don't think I'm being lazy or ignorant!

Good news is that the first production run of 200 springs has been made and product is being delivered to those who pre-ordered.

I HOPE to have my graffix reinstalled on my PC this week and when I do I'll post pix of the new springs. Why so ??? A spring's a spring-right? Wait 'til you SEE these beauties. Pity you won't be able to see them when they're installed !

As with the RAM shox, not only have the springs [ 10% upgrade and progressive ] been thoroughly tested in the lab, but have concluded in excess of 15K miles on a K1100 [ 10K miles ] and k100 [ 5K miles ] and performed faultlessly.

From a personal point of view, the difference I experienced when the RAM shocker was fitted has been mirrored by the improvement by fitting the RAM Progressive Gold front springs.

Duck please PM me when convenient.

Where are my springs? OK, maybe I was not in the first spring order group, however I was in the first group buy for the shock.

I don't know and it is true that I have not paid for springs, but I said I wanted springs back in NOVEMBER.

I will end this post as it started: Where are my springs?

Hi Ken,

Springs are in stock here in good old Blighty - you can pay for a set as before with the shox. Ready for immediate delivery.

We have sets saved from the first batch for all who expressed an interest or who paid for them.

Definitely the biz ..................
