|
|
Hi All,
My K1100 RS tends to run a little rich-only seems really happy when ambient temp is around 5 deg C
It originally came with a Catalytic convertor which is long gone
so presume the motronic is in default mode?
Can I re program Motronic or is there a fix/override device available (techlusion etc.)
Cheers

Hello!
The catalytic converter has nothing to common with mixture enrichment. You can read out motronic codes - look into sticky tech page. What you can check if O2 sensor (lambda) works fine. Thats the element that controls the fuel/air ratio. Another thing - ECU will enrich mixture if engine is cool - normal warm up procedure. So this next thing to check: Link to temp. sensor characteristics

Thanks Rafel
Lamda Sensor is removed and hole is blanked off in exhaust.
I was thinking maybe UK models with no Lamda have a different Motronic Unit?
Should I add a jumper lead to original Lamda Connections to complete the circuit?

Models without a cat have a pot.meter in front of the relay box instead of the O2 sensor to adjust CO/mixture.
The engine wiring harness is also different, since the pot.meter is connected to other terminals at the Motronic unit.

Why the heck you did such thing? Was lambda worn out? Now engine has no signal from sensor and went into emergency mode. The sensor should always be present.
Sensor used for motronic is regular narrow band one. Just check how many wires it has, and put it back. Or, or.... switch ECU and get CO pot.
If you would like to get rid of yours Motronic ECU i can buy int cheaply - I am interested in switching to close loop system.
