I want to thank a fellow BMW fiend out there that gave me a hand on July 13th. My wife and I had finished riding the Dragons Tail, me on my 1993 K1100RS and my wife on her 2001 Suzuki Bandit. We were just past Robbinsville when my bike just cut out. I coasted to the side, to a safe pull off and the bike would not restart.

Being 440+ miles away from home what do we do?

Baffled my wife and I tried a few things to get it started but nothing. We pulled the plugs and they were ugly, we decided to replace them. My wife hopped on her ride and headed to town to get plugs. I stayed behind pull the plugs. Anyway, as I'm pulling the plugs I hear a motorcycle pull up.

The guy that pulled up said he has a couple BMW's and one of the was a 95 K1100rs, what are the odds. After a quick into, he said his name was "Audi", I apologize I know I spelt it wrong.

He spent a good 2 hours, more likely more time than that. There was multiple trips to the auto store, and a lot of trouble shooting. Unfortunatley we could not get "Klaus" running. He gave a lot of great advice and recommended this website for assistance.

We were so appreciative of his time, he was the only person to stop and see if we were ok, so many cars and bikes, and 2 cops rode by and nothing. Eventually he had to leave, he was meeting some friends. He gave us his number and made sure we were good to go.

We had to leave the bike and retrieve it the next day. We rented a Uhaul and somehow got it the bike in the back. We made it back to PC, Fl at about 10pm on Saturday. Now we get that bike out!

Anyway, thank you so much to BMW owners, thank you Audi(please correct me, I know I'm wrong), BMW owners truly are a special breed.

Welcome to the K11OG!

You were unlucky with your bike, but I can't think of a better guy to find you. Audi (goes by the tag "abreeze" here) REALLY knows K bikes.

Too bad you couldn't find the problem while out on the road.

Good luck fixing your RS. Post any questions on the Tech forum.

John

What? Audi has '95 RS? And he rides that 'ole K100 to HM?

A true K biker if there ever was one!

I'll bet that the collective here can help you sort of the issues with your bike.

yeah, it was a bad place to deal with a broken down K....we determined it had spark, feul pump buzzing and the injectors were ticking.. they needed to get heading back to Fla...it was a good call to get a hauler at that point...

The 96' I picked up to turnover, then got hit by the car on, then took a year to settle with the insurance co of the other driver, then repaired and got rid of last month....seeing how i didnt loose a dime on the deal, is remarkable!![/quote]

thanks all for the warm welcome. I have been combing though the pages and found some great advice. Along with the advice from Abreeze, i should have Klaus fired up in no time. I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted on the progress.
I abosultely love this bike and want to keep it around for a long time.

Peace for now, and If you are ever in PC look for your fellow brick rider...

update...
1st day off since my trip and my K1100rs becoming inoperable. I just dropped the oil pan and the oil filter fell into the oil tub. so apparently the oil filter came off the spindle. Letting it drain out then i'll try popping my head underneath to look for damage in there. wish me luck, and any suggestions are welcome
