Being a relatively new K11LT owner, I've been reading just about everything I can to help me familiarize myself with my latest 2-wheeled acquisition. Since there seems to be a recent spike in the number of new K11 owners contributing to this forum, I thought I'd share what I found when I finally had the chance to pay some attention to one of the issues that could cause problems if not checked . . . exhaust header flange nuts. I don't remember where I read it . . . (probably here!) . . . but I do remember reading that it is possible that those flange nuts can (and will) loosen over time. I was shocked to find that every single nut on my header flanges was loose. I mean LOOSE!!! Every single one required anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4 of a turn to even get them to START tightening up!

So, I just wanted to put that out to let the other noobs know to . . . well . . . CHECK YER NUTS! Laughing

Hello!

That's strange. Over 60 000 miles and no a single was loose, I will say it was hard to turn them out. By factory there should be self locking nuts. During last service I have replaced copper seals, screws, and nuts. I have use all steel self locking nut. It is slightly bend so it locks on a thread. A nut with a plastic inner won't work, the plastic part will melt and self locking will vanish.

Best regards
