I managed to buy a tankbag base and tankbag for a K100 and similar. This is not the one shown in the attached photo. The base for this does not fit perfectly to my K1100 tank.
At about the same time I found the tank base in this photo which specifically lists K1100. I then learned somewhere on this forum that this base requires 2 clips which attach to the frame under the tank for easy removal and replacement. The side straps on this K1100 base are at a different angle and appear to be designed to attach a few centimetres further back than the K100 base.
I found that these frame clips were available through Motorworks so I ordered them and they arrived today. Very promptly as usual.
I rushed outside to see how they fit on, thinking they are held in place by an existing bolt but I find nothing there after removing the side covers and lifting the tank.
Both these clips appear to be exactly the same despite there being a different part number for left and right.
Am I missing another component to fit these clips or have I missed something obvious?

They should be mounted in the lug under the tank which is used for the battery covers on the K100`s.
BTW. It looks like you got two clips for the left side.

I can now see that these lugs would be about the correct spot, but the lug only has the rubber bushed hole for the battery cover. There is no other hole nearby.
I thought I read that the clips were only for the K1100 but on mine there does not seem to be a hole to bolt them to.
The hole in the clip is too small to put the battery cover mounting knob through to use that. Any more ideas?
I think you are right I do have 2 left side clips
