|
|
I've been a lurker here for about 6 weeks. But, no more distant lurking for me. I'm a full-fledged member.
I've had my '94 K1100RS for about 3 weeks now and if you do the math, I was browsing here before I got it. I'm a'lovin' this bike. I came off a thumper F650GS so this thing is a rocket ship to me. I've only put 560 miles on it in the 3 weeks I've had it but they've been 560 smile-enducing miles.
I've only had one incident so far and that was probably my fault. On my first "long" ride (about 175 miles) I installed the bags to see how it felt. At some point during my return ride, the left bag decided it was tired and took a rest on the muffler. Now I have a nice right bag and a left bag that looks like it was tossed in a fireplace. The few things I had inside literally look like they were burned. It musta got smokin' hot inside there! I'm still trying to get all the crap off the muffler. The plastic came off pretty well but the vinyl coated cable lock I had apparently had a party on the muffler too. It's being stubborn. Goof-off, Brasso, some other paste-type cleaner.......no workie.
Any way, this is the "pictures" thread so here are a few of my blue toy named Rubik. With only 38,000 miles on the clock, I foresee a long life together.
And my heat-inflicted bag.

BexarWolf,
WELCOME. Nice looking K-RS. Many happy miles.
Too bad about the side case. If someone here can't help you with a replacement, there are lots of used sources out there. Just let us know and you will get several suggestions.

I was thinking "good thing I didn't have a second bottle of fuel in there" but I think your idea would be more tragic.
I've found a couple of different sets of bags for sale on Ebay but folks are mighty proud of them. I've found a local guy that has a couple of Pelican cases for sale. I think it would be pretty easy to convert them into bags that I could use.
I don't need a lot of room for now. It's my commuter bike and all I need (or will need later this season) is a place to stuff a jacket. Right now I have a tail bag on that I might be able to use.
If I can come across a Corbin backrest for the pillion seat, I might be able to talk momma into going on some rides with me. THEN I'll need more bag space. Extra shoes, hair brush, scrunchies, light jacket, heavier jacket, gloves........... _________________ 1994 K1100RS

Niiiiice! I've been looking on Ebay and some of the Corbin back rests are going for +$250!
I was watching one "no name" back rest but I wasn't sure if it'd fit in the seat pocket on the seat. I *think* I need the square post but I don't know anyone around me that has a Corbin seat with back rest so I can try it out.
That said, I don't know if there are any other K11RS's around here so I can compare my bike to theirs. <shrug> _________________ 1994 K1100RS

The 2 Corbins we have use the same square post for the backrest, don't think they have changed that. _________________ John & Cathy

Excellent. I'm browsing Ebay regularly. So the one with the straight post would be the correct one but would that straight one also work for the driver? With the forward lean, I'd think it'd probably be useless for the driver.
I need to get my hands on one to try out I guess. _________________ 1994 K1100RS
