Hi everybody!
It's been a while since I posted, but I'm not gone Smile...

... so after yesterdays' ride to the center region of our country, a fellow XL 1000 Varadero biker noticed my K exhaust "smoking" oil at high speeds. He asked me about it and I said, "yes, my K does consume a little bit of oil. The exhaust canister is the visible part of it, but that's how K's were in the '90's". Right?

But he said: "try adding Slick 50 next time you change the oil and the oil filter. It'll help solve the problem".

Now: has anyone used this additive for high mileage bikes? If so, does it actually reduce oil consumption in our bikes?

Thanks in advance!

Another oil related myth. Slick 50 was marketed as a friction reducer which would last the life of the engine. It contained PTFE (Teflon)

Have a look at this:

No. Not Slick 50.

Check out Gwen's thread about oil consumption and compression, though. There might be something there for you.

Wow! Interesting findings, to say the least. Thanks for that.

Thanks. I'll do just that.

By the way, is your K's oil consumption something of a worry to you? Does the exhaust can final section get darker after a few hundred miles? Anyway, I guess this is not new for any of us.

Cheers.
