My brake light is stuck on !

I had assumed it was the same problem as the R1100RS so I've cleaned up the rear switch contacts with no joy

Is there any other obvious place to "clag up (or other common faults to cause this) - I am assuming that the recent poor weather is the culprit.

TIA

Have you checked the front switch? Also check that the front brake lever returns fully.

The switches on a K don`t function as described in the link.
On the K`s it`s 12V+ feed through the switch(es) when brakes is applied.
(The switches functions the same way on a R1100RS, the author to the article in the link have misunderstand how they function).

To check which one is the problem, just disconnect them.......rear one behind the RHS battery cover,
front switch connector is under the tank.

Inge

Thanks - I also had a reply on the UK BMW Club posting.

It was (is) the front switch - I have disconnected it for now to get me working brake lights through next week.

I will work on it again next week - am I right in thinking that if the problem is the lever not returning fully, there is an option to adjust it by screwing in (or out) the small bolt ?

If you recently have changed the brake lever or the piston a adjustement could be needed.
Otherwise this is the wrong end to start, if it earlier have returned fully.
Check that the pivot bolt moves smooth in it`s bushing, and that the piston returns fully.
