Hello,, i have a problem with the tank-gauge on my k1100lt,,,when the tank is full it works fine until the needle on the gauge gets down to half a tank it goes up and down erratically,,,any ideas please ?????

Sounds like the sending unit in the tank is bad. My K100LT gauge did a similar thing a few years ago. It would read good at the upper end and lower end but in the middle range it would show empty. Replacing the sending unit fixed the problem.

I had a similar problem on one of mine. Eventually traced when the fuel gauge reading changed when the lights were on. Cleaned the earth (ground) to the meter.
Consider also the 4 pin connector to the tank which has a history (on here anyway) of intermittancy.
IMHO Do the cheapest & easiest checks first, before a serious extraction of the wallet (billfold).

The sender is just a variable resistor, should be easily measurable with an ohmmeter & a coathanger fashioned to lift or push the float down through the filler, best done with a nearly empty tank.
