I just got home from an overnight trip to visit family and I couldn't be more pleased. It was 580 miles round-trip and my bike performed flawlessly. I stopped about every 100 miles or so to stretch my legs and there was not the slightest bit of fatigue. And that's saying something for my 50 year old back.
I left Austin on 11/7 at about 11a, took I-35 through Ft Worth all the way up to Gainesville, TX, out hwy 82 to Sherman and ended up at the Texas - Oklahoma border. I have family in Denison and it's a stone's throw away from the Oklahoma border. I spent the night up there and came back this morning.
Going up, the weather couldn't have been better. Temps were awesome and the winds were light. Coming home I had a stiff headwind that made it a little more challenging but not unbearable. I went through Dallas on the way home via Central Expressway and remembered why I hate going through Dallas. The HOV lane made it a little less nerve-wracking but still challenging.
And here are some shots while I was up there. First stop was at the cemetery to visit my mom and dad's graves. I lost my mom in April of last year and my dad March of this year. I haven't been to the grave site since dad passed. I took pics but didn't really think anyone would want to see those.
First stop up in Denison was the Denison Dam. As I came up to the dam, I ran through a herd of these little bastards and the splattered all over my windscreen, headlight and me. I don't know what they are but they look like small mosquitoes.
Then stopped at the overlook above the dam and at the intake to the dam.
This morning I got up and did some running around with my daughter and spotted the best photo-op location I've seen in a long time. I'm not sure what this building used to be but it worked out perfectly for me and my bike.
The ride back was uneventful except for the winds. Oh, other than meeting a nice Texas State Trooper who gave me a performance award warning. 70 in a 65 (although I was going 74 according to my GPS). Had he seen me just moments earlier............
Round trip, 580 miles. Total moving time: 8 hours and 48 minutes. Moving average: 66mph. All in all, the bike passed the test with flying colors. _________________ 1994 K1100RS

| Your bike looks awesome. Looks like it would match my wife's e36 M3 pretty well. Do you have any details on the windscreen? |

Thanks for the compliment. For a '94, it's a clean bike. As for the windscreen, it's a Parabellum that I bought from another forum member. It's definitely a winter item because there's no wind getting to me with it on. I catch a little wind along my upper arms but that's it. WAY quieter behind the screen now. _________________ 1994 K1100RS
