In our cold weather here my K11 stuggles to start, when it fires it runs beautifully, but when I first start from cold, I put a bit of choke on, hold a throttle open a bit then hit the button, it is though the kill switch is been hit, battery absolutely top notch, as I say when it does fire its fine, till the next day or it goes cold, what should I look for? _________________ Riding a 1995 Marakesh red K1100rs

Are you moving the "choke" to the click or pushing the choke all the way closed? _________________ John & Cathy

Closed???.......the only thing the choke lever does, is opening the throttle a tad.....nothing else.

IIRC, the TB advance (what I called a choke) has a "click" at about 45° from the normal/open position. It will stay there on its own.
But if you push it further (to about 90°) and hold it there- you need to hold it with your hand- it advances the throttle even further. But you probably knew that, right? _________________ John & Cathy

As above, push the "choke" lever against the spring action to full, start engine, release the lever and it will stay in its "first" position while the engine warms. _________________ 1980 CB900FA

Try using more choke and no throttle. You should be able to start it with just the choke. _________________ Jim

In the end, it's the same, except you have better control with the choke. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

I synch my throttle bank regularly, it was me!! I should have just left the throttle alone, it starts perfectly with just the 'choke' lever pushed round. Not used to cold spells here!! Thanks people. _________________ Riding a 1995 Marakesh red K1100rs
