I smell fuel from time to time on my, new to me, ’94 K1100LT with 22k mi on it. I raised the tank and ran it and no sign of a leak. What I did find was a tank vent hose that wasn’t connected. From where it is, it was hooked up to one of the two small pipes coming down from the bottom of the tank near the front on the right side. I blew air thru the cap overflow drain and that was the rear pipe. Since the front pipe was restricted when I closed the cap that one is the tank vent & I hooked up the hose with its check valve to it. The end of this hose comes out behind the right foot peg bracket and is just open. Is that right? My Clymer book says that this hose goes to the crankcase but I don’t see how. Any suggestions? Thanks,,,De Smile

Thanks, Inge K.
Looks like I did a search on the wrong board. I was just looking for a leak and don’t mind the occasional smell and it doesn’t smell up the garage like a very small leak would. I named this bike,”25%” and this is one of the proofs. The other reasons for the name are, it is’
25% too complicated (see above)
25% too tall (Although I haven’t dropped it yet),
25% too big (just stand back 6’ and look at it),
25% too heavy (if I did this it wouldn’t be hurt and the only damage would be to the concrete below),
http://www.visordown.com/funny-motorcycle-videos/fjr-road-test-but-does-it-float/21907.html
25% too slow
25% too crunchy sounding (only when taking off-otherwise it’s pretty quiet),
In spite of all this, it is becoming one of my favorites and I guess it is a keeper.
Later,,, De Smile

You can easily fix the too tall part. I have a 29" inseam and had my k11LT lowered. It was easy. The stock rear shock is 385mm long. I replaced it with one that is 360 long. And replaced my fork springs and pushed my fork tubes thru the triple trees by 16mm . I am not heals on the floor but got good footing and feel more comfortable when I stop. I do work in a shop that does bike suspensions. We get a lot of requests to lower bikes. Now the weight part. I removed the top trunk. Not a lot of weight but the bike feels better with out it. The box is so high I feel it affects the handling of the bike. (The fact I am fat I am sure is not a factor in this.) Too slow? Once again I am sure my weight has nothing to do with that. And the time out camper I pull I am sure does not slow me down..

Silly me, I did a search on this board for; vent hose, tank vent, etc and I should have done a search for "accumulator". No wonder I didn't find anything. Anyhow, thanks for your help guys & gals.
