|
|
Hi I am baffled to where this front seat hinge attaches when bolted onto the seat it does not seem to fit anywhere on the frame while attached to the seat.
The front hinge was missing when I bought the bike and the seat wobbles all over the place when in position.
I purchased the hinge from Motor Works thinking it was just a matter of bolting to the seat and HI PRESTO but I can't see anywhere to hinge it to HELP!!!!!!!!
GREAT FORUMS BY THE WAY
THANKS

It should look like #3
Also, it doesn't attach to the bike there. Look on the right side of the bike- behind the right sidecover and just ahead of the right front luggage bracket. It is just above the top shock mount (at least it is on my K-RS).
You will see a small, horizontal round bar. That's where it attaches. From there it should line up with the threaded holes in the seat. _________________ John & Cathy

Indeed as John says, it's the wrong way around. End for end it. It was only that way around on southern hemisphere delivered models. _________________ K1100RS '97

As mentioned above, there is a rod (for lack of a better word) that is about 3/16" in diameter and no more than 1" in length that serves as the pivot point for the front seat hinge. The rod is just outside of the frame and points forward like the pivot for the rear hinge. If you can't see the rod, it may have been sheared off by a previous owner. _________________ Kenji

That bracket mounts to the underside of your seat, then the barrel slips onto the "rod" circled below with a circlip holding it in place. In the second photo, you can just see the bracket between the side panel and tail piece just above the shock.
