Yeah, Yeah, I know there are other threads on this topic. Read a good many. However, I have still failed at being able to get the battery out.
I have a 1993 K1100 RS with less than 26,000 miles. I have ridden it very little in the year I've had it, as it has been down most of the time with a bad clutch and fuel pump. Now I can start it with jumpers, but can't get it started without them. I'm going for the battery next, if I can just figure how to remove it!!!
I have removed the long screw on the battery hold-down clamp and have gotten the left side connector off the electronic module (Motronic?). However that top electronic module won't budge and it seems like a lot of stuff wants to move with it. I don't see how to get it to come off. Do I also have to remove the vertical electronic module at the back?
I'd like to beg for some very explicit (nooby level!) help. Also, if anyone has the Yuasa part number for a replacement battery, I could use that so I can call the Honda dealer to try to get one and have it waiting for me on Saturday. The Yuasa that's in there looks like a good fit, as there doesn't seem to be a problem with shorting out the positive terminal, like I read about. The main problem is that I can't read the model number with the battery in the bike. That is one of the worst battery locations I have seen on a bike.
All help appreciated!

'93 should have ABS I.
There are 3 small screws that attach the Motronic to the battery hold-down. IIRC, one on the left and two on the right. A bit tough to get loosened since they are almost directly under the frame. _________________ John & Cathy

If the Yuasa has a horizontal hole thru the positive terminal, to which the eyelet on the positive wires attach, then the thing to watch for is that the O.D. of the eyelet doesn't stick up above the top of the battery.
That can get real expensive real fast. _________________ Scot
