Gidday Folks,

Before I start to put things back together again as I have the air box and filter housing completely removed, why you ask?? well I started poking about in under there and it looked a little dirty, plus I had a new air filter sitting on the bench still in its wrapper from the mail so I dismantled the housing and removed it from the bike...
The top of the engine block was very dirty so I have give that a very good clean after I blocked off the tops of the carbies etc, I degreased, cleaned and sprayed all what I could see and it has now come up like new again.

After watching a "chris harris - affordable beemer services" video on youtube I removed the crash bar lowers and dropped off the sump oil pan for a clean, and I was shocked at the amount of dirty sludge in the bottom sump, I inspected the oil screen and wiped out this and that, I degreased the sump pan, picked off all the old gasket gum, then I laid down some new gasket glue with a small paintbrush, screwed it back into place and torqued up the bolts to 10 Nm, it was a very easy job to do and was the first time I had done a sump pan clean out before... To easy.

I noticed when I was inspecting the air filter box that the engine breather hose was all split and stuffed at the sharp bend in it so another was ordered asap and will be here overnight.

I also replaced the fuel line from the small canister "thing" that sits behind the carbies on the engine block and then goes up to the tank, I also am going to replace the other fuel lines on the tank when I come to install that soon and also a fuel filter is sitting on my bench ready to go in..

I had some cree 900 lumes driving lamps installed on the crash bars and also had the "beaver" headlight relay put on the bike last week but have not had a chance to try it out yet.

Anyway back to my original question and that is, while am at it with the air box out, is there anything else that I should look at and inspect, all the radiator hoses look and feel good, and the wiring in good and cleaned from when I went searching my speedo faults a few months back, another other hoses that I am missing that might need replacing..

About from that, all is good..

Grant while you into the innards of your steed there, look at this pic.

Depending on the mfgr date of your bike you may or may-not have part #17. They stopped using it mid-93 production year. Look and see if you have it. It's an Ign Amplifier that is bolted to a metal surface for heat dissipation.
If you have it, remove it and clean off all of the heat sink paste and replace the paste. You may be able to buy the paste at an electronic store.
Do this as a preventative. Eventually the paste will dry out and can cause intermittent engine stalling because the part overheats.

Thanks for the reply, I will have a look about today for that part you mentioned.

My bike was built in the 10th month of 1993 so it may be just outside the time that these were this installed..
