Hello Everyone – Just want to take a moment and introduce myself to the forum. I am in Parkersburg WV which is across the river from Marietta OH. I purchased a 93 K1100RS in Feb 2012 as our “2 up” bike for my wife and me. Since we are now empty nesters, we have been riding a lot more together and the VFR was not quite providing the passenger comfort needed for multiple full day rides. Plus it was getting old converting it back and forth from 2 up to 1 up to 2 up….

Then I stumbled across the bike at Motohio in Columbus, and based on my long time love of this model, we decided to buy it. It had 27,600 miles on it and had been in storage for 10 years, so it looked nearly new. The test ride proved everything in working order and passed the “comfort test” for my wife as well. We now have 31,500 on it and hope to put a lot more on in the future.

I am getting to know the bike a little better and starting to personalize it. The info on this site has been very helpful in doing this. Best tip so far was the Tribo rear seat cover that now keeps my wife firmly planted on the seat. Big improvement in her comfort and confidence when in twisty road attack mode! Next purchase I hope to find is a nice 22L tail case for a little more storage when the saddle bags are too much. Tips to locate one are welcome.

Happy riding to all!
Hal

Hal,

WELCOME!

Nice looking K-RS you have there. Many happy miles.

You are pretty close to our annual K11OG get-together in Marion, Va. Maybe you both could join us there next May (look at the Meetings section)

John

Welcome Hal.
Beautiful bike!
My son will be a freshman at OVU this fall, so I'll probably be in your neck o' the woods now and then over the next 4 years.

Bill

John - Thanks for the greeting. I mentioned the event to my wife and she is good to go! Not far from our place either. We'll keep it mind for May.

Bill - Lots of great riding in this neck of the woods as you probably know. Send me a note if you ever have time to ride and can get together. BTW, I'm also a member of the MSTA, they have a pretty active Columbus area group. My son has ridden with them and is also an MSTA member. If you are interested, I can provide contact info.

LT Seat is nothing worth looking for. Hence the 2nd bike in my sig.
The K is MY favorite and my daily driver, but passenger comfort was not part of the design, apparently...

hosehound - You might want to look at this:
http://triboseat.com/

It works great for my wife and only about $30. Figured it would be a cheap experiment - and it works! Got this idea from the archives.
