Hi there all,
just before a weekend trip realized my front master cylinder was leaking,
got a new one from BeemerBoneyard, installed, rode a coupel of days,
getting ready on friday for a weekend ride, found the brakes soft and discovered a pin hole in the top brake line.
any one have recommendations for 3rd party brake hoses
Thanks
Philippe

Spiegler is the most responsive and will make anything you want. Any Spiegler dealer will get you an exact functional match for your old one if you take it to them to measure the length and measure the fitting sizes and threads. It will look different because it is a wire wrapped braid on the outside which has options for covers, colors and styles which make your head spin with the choices.
IF you want to do it yourself, you may be able to order on line. Be aware that custom hoses are not returnable, so unless they list the exact year make and model you need, you will have to order a custom hose. Measure carefully! _________________ "It's not what people know, it's that they know so much that just ain't so!" (Apologies to Will Rogers)

When I had a similar problem on holiday in Ireland in July, I used these people. http://www.pirtekusa.com/
OR http://www.pirtek.ca/
Made while I waited & for a reasonable price too. _________________ Regards Tim,

+1 on the Spiegler lines.
They make kits to fit exactly pretty much any make and model. I purchased and installed a set in July.
You may want to order a complete set for your bike. After all, the rest of the lines are likely just as old as the failed one and won't go on forever.
I purchased mine through sporrtbiketrackgear as the shipping was a bit less than directly from Spiegler. Total cost was $185 for the five lines and a bottle of brake fluid.

I've sent emails with questions out there,
will update with more info later,
I'm in a bit of a quandry as to whether to change them all now, or just a quick one with this line, the top one, and the lower ones .... whenever _________________ let's do it

I just put a set of Spieglers on my LT. Their standard kit fit fine.
It comes with a pair of plastic jaws that you put in a vice to hold the crimp and a plastic rod you put in the banjo fitting to clock the fitting so they fit correctly. Believe the instructions when it says to tighten until the plastic changes color.
The only line that was difficult to install was the one from the front master. The other end of it is buried in the wire loom under the tank. Not impossible just a bit time consuming. _________________ K1100LT

Some times I think these bikes have the same problems through out the bmw K1100 kingdom! My brakes acted up or the flexbile brake line wore out this past weekend.
I come to this web site first and there it is. Some one else is having the same problem!
I removed the flexible hose and replaced it with a used part from a k1100 wreck that I have had for 2 years. However that hose had collapsed inside and would not release the fluid.
So today I headed to a car mechanic and asked if its the same brake hose as on cars. He nodded and told me where I could find a brake specialist to build me one.
Long story short the new flex hose has replaced the defective hose. Brakes work and release as well!
good deal!
Anyone going to The Very Boring Rally? Riderwearhouse event in Duluth, MN next weekend.
