In the middle of Iceville here. To keep from going mad, I am planning a ride to Colorado next year to see my daughter. Since the winter allows time for planning, I am busy making lists and thinking of things to do for my K-bike to ensure I have a trouble free trip.
Perusing through the Clymer manual I spot a paragraph on "High Altitude adjustment" which piques my interest as I will be going over Wolf Creek Pass which goes up over 5k feet. I searched the tech Forum, but found no discussion at all.
Does anyone know what this does and what it needs to be? I am relatively handy at wires and connectors and such and would rather make something for the task than buy it if possible.
Mu suspicion is this is some type of mixture adjustment device to compensate for the altitude. Would have to be a single step change in the mixture ratios for the compuker. Perhaps it could be a switch to go back and forth?
Thanks for any help

Nick - as far as I know, the computer handles altitude on the 1100. On the K75 there was a high altitude plug that had to be connected.
I didn't know about the plug when I rode the K75 out there (it was in the tool kit) - and I could definitely tell it. Never had a problem with the 1100.

I've had my '96 K1100RS in Telluride at 9000ft...over Lizard Head Pass down to Cortez and Durango and back up through Silverton and over Red Mountain Pass.
No problems whatsoever. |

My '97 K1100LT seems to thrive in the mountains, cool air, hills...the lower rpm torque band really shines. Teton Pass, Idaho, Oregon passes...I think the motronic already adjusts any changes. _________________ 1997 K1100LT-SE

Thanks all! I wondered why I had seen nothing on this before. Wonderful to have this asset as a K-bike rider! It seems like somebody somewhere has seen it all! _________________ "It's not what people know, it's that they know so much that just ain't so!" (Apologies to Will Rogers)
