Front and rear discs sorted, and calipers having a nice long soak prior to dismantling and o/haul.
I'll be starting on the panels soon - fettling and prepping prior to paint. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

I got my top yokes back from the machine shop [ K100 ] - bored out to 41.7mm so I can fit the K1100 stanchions. That's the last of the hardware I need for the K1200S wheel conversion.
I also picked up this little gem ... originally I bought it for my Vanguard estate Hot Rod project, but it's cosmetically too small enough !!!!!!!
I'd always planned to do "something" with the spare low mileage [ 18K ] 1100 bottom end in my garage - that looks like a plan then ! I've got a good unleaded 8 valve head to drop on.
Once all the Mercedes injection squitter is junked, the unit is very compact and surprisingly light.
That project will probably coincide with the later fitting of a sidecar, when my knee finally gives out for solo riding.

I'd guess something related to air/fuel intake. Doesn't look like a turbo unit, but I'd bet that it's something similar..... _________________ Ride safe.

This view will be more familiar - think GMC Blower !!!
Eaton make a whole range of superchargers [ actually - air pump ] including units for Pontiac, Mustang, etc.
Very plentiful here in the UK - and despite all the squitter attached for different applications [ mine is for Merc C180 -M217 ] ] remove all that [ in my case everything from the blower outlet down ] and you end up with a very compact blower. I'll do just that this weekend and post up a pic of the "naked" blower.
I need the M112 fitted to the V8 Jags for my Vanguard Hot Rod project [ 3ltr Volvo V6 engine ], which is physically larger [ 20% ] and obviously has more pumping capacity.
I paid £100 [ $160 ? ] for this unit, from a low mileage back ended C180 - I'll be able to sell off the air control unit and parts for maybe £50 or so - = very cheap blower !
The ONLY issue is that this particular unit rotates in a clockwise direction - whereas the Kays rotate counter clockwise [ viewed from front ]. Not the end of the world, but it will require a jackshaft running to the back of the engine and the blower mounted "backwards".
The blower would sit on top of the block [ imagine all the airbox / injection gone ] and a large SU carb [ 1 3/4"/ 2" ] for fueling requirements. Drive would be taken from the end of the crankshaft.
This is not as efficient as a turbo - but much more in my comfort zone as I've used blown engines for the past 40 odd years - and of course - it will be different !.

Any chance the rotors could be reversed so you don't have to run a jack shaft?

Won't work Jeff - it's the direction of the flow that is the issue. There are Eaton blowers with integral gears to reverse the direction - but not suitable for this application.
Using a jackshaft is quite common on blower applications where that is necessary. MY problem is lack of workshop / machining facilities - so everything has to be done by pals - or paid for. Either way - that slows the project down somewhat !
That said, this is for the "Mk2" engine sat under the bench, and I'm really in no particular rush as the engine currently in the bike is a sweet low mileage unit. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

Preliminary checks show it's definitely a viable project.
Using a jackshaft also allows for shorter drive belts [ Gilmer type ] and easier tensioning, but additionally gives me extra scope for altering the blower ratio.
My 1100 bottom end is GTG, so at some stage I just need to get the 8V head mounted up. I also have a complete spare "mule" engine frame assembly to mock up the blower properly. However, that's some time away - back to getting the current configuration completed! _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

Got my K1100 front forks back at the weekend so I can have a trial fit of the newly reamered out K100 top yoke. Then it's decision time before I make the swap over - Clip-Ons or Renthals ???
I'm clearing some space in my garage - KZ750 Flat Tracker and Yamaha TR1 Cafe Racer parts off for powder coating which will clear my bike ramp and allow me to get the Kay back from my pal's and start the final strip down / detail / paint.
I fired the bike up last week - first time in 18 months - went second turn of the key - well chuffed.
There's a large oil leak occured since it's been standing - looks like it's coming from the gearbox area - I'm suspecting the clutch push rod seal ? There were no leaks before it was laid up. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

Aaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh - so, went to fit up my newly reamered K100 top yokes only to find that they are 5 mm or so narrower across the stanchions than the K1100. That'll teach me not to check thoroughly !
SO, back to plan A. The K1100 top yokes are off to the machine shop tomorrow to have the ignition barrel plinth and other squitter removed and tidied up.
Then .................... OK, who hid my one off front wheel spindle ?? After 3 days of searching the garage, my shed and other likely places, my Wife tells me she "put it in the sideboard drawer for safe keeping ". _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

24 hrs service from the machine shop - top man. Exactly the look I wanted. The top yoke is now back and fitted up - some progress at least _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |
