BMW only wanted $50 for a replacement key. Unfortunately the lock for the ignition is thrashed, I made it function as a switch that takes any old key, I may just install a simple key operated kill switch inside one of the gloveboxes.
any suggestions for other clever spots?
an easy to use way to cap or otherwise block the existing ignition switch?
the actuator is about 1/2"[12mm] below the housing in the top triple clamp
here's a before

You should be able to get a used working switch from one of the parts yards - see the stickies... _________________ Jim

I ended up using a generic keylock from napa $12
the only hitch is there is a set of contacts to enable gauges
my solution is adding a relay $4.50& mounting it on the same screw as the windscreen relay[s]
I cut the casting for the top tripleclamp flush & repainted with appliance paint [epoxy] |
