Been trying to determine if subject sensor is cause of intermitent stalling. Heat gun test generally does not kill the engine. It will often not die at all, but shut it off, no restart.

I've always tried the heat gun test with engine running. Tonight I heated the sensor up before startng the bike. Guess what, it wouldn't start. Let it cool off a while and it started right up.

Based on this result, do you all think hanging on a new Hall Sensor might solve the problem.

When's the last time, if ever, that you redid the heat sink compound between the ignition amp and the battery tray? That can cause the early 4V bikes to run poorly. Both my K1 and 93 K1100RS had that issue as both still had the now 20+ year old up factory stuff in there. They ran OK before but ran much better after I redid that.

It certainly can't hurt and very inexpensive to do. Use lots of it to get as much heat as possible sinking to the battery tray.

IMO, BMW should've put that on the maintenance checklist with a 25,000 mile interval. (Which means they'd do it at 12K, LOL.)

FD, I did the paste at your suggestion last year and was able to ride to Oregon and back with no problem. But this spring the problem returned. First thing I did was clean connections and re-paste ignition amp.

Hate to take it to a stealership, but hanging new parts on her till it works may be the only way out of this. (Already tried replacing Moronic, but not heat sensors.)

The Bosch part number for the 93 temp sensor is 0280130055.

Interestingly, I replaced the temp sensor behind top of radiator and now the fan starts up much sooner.

Before, the fan didn't operate until temp gauge was nearly in the red. Now it starts just passed half way.

Oh, and better yet, the bike hasn't stalled out since the replacement.
