Hey all, quintessential forum creeper here. A few years ago I bought my K1100LT and ive loved every moment that doesnt involve 95+ degree days and even then I still really like it. Ive got some maint. going on in the garage with it right now so I thought this would be a good time to come out from under the rock and introduce myself as well as lean on the communities knowledge base. More to come on that in the tech section. So here I am in Norman OK. Thanks.

WELCOME!

What are you doing on your K bike?

I just finished annual maintenance and I'm just waiting for the mud to dry on our road. Confused

Don, The K is a 97

Sugarhill, Last year after using the fill tool (mismarked) I over oiled the bike. I then developed an oiled clutch. It started slipping with a moderate to heavy load on the throttle and leaking from the weep hole. I could get a good handle on if it was gear or engine oil so I pulled the transmission and clutch and it has sat in the garage for 10 months like that. Its really time to fix it.

Welcome, its good to have yet another from Oklahoma on here. If you ever need any assistance don't hesitate to call me up. If I can't help you I do know of another mechanic here in Tulsa that worked for Atlas before they closed up, he works on all the old BMW bikes in Tulsa, since the new dealer won't touch anything past 10yrs. old.

John can he just spray brake parts cleaner on the clutch disk and re-use it? Or would be better to replace it?

If he has it apart, may as well put a new clutch nut o-ring in there?
Jmho.

Given the amount of work involved in getting that disc out, I would replace it, the clutch nut o-ring and the rear main seal. I'd also clean that pressure plate and flywheel thoroughly with brake parts cleaner.
I've never had any lasting success with trying to de-oil a clutch disc.
