Easiest and safest method to release the mirror from the pod:
1. Take the mirror pod off the fairing
2. lay a towel on the floor, folded several times to form a cushion
3. With the mirror down, slam the pod onto the towel
Done.
Prying from behind the mirror risks cracking the glass and marring the finish on the pod. _________________ - Robert

Easiest: use a suction cup, like a GPS one. Easy and safe. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Gidday,
Job now completed!!
I removed both the mirror housings from the fairing, I held the mirror tightly and then use a thin metal ruler and wedged it gently down in the top gap between the fairing and the mirror housing and then slowly moved it left and right a few times and the top hold nut on the mirror simply and easily popped off, then the bottom 2 came out nice.
The mirror glasses came out with little prying, the internals of the housing all cleaned and wiped out.
The old felt or foam was picked off, removed and the old glue removed, then I installed the new foam support sections that I purchased for each mirror with where cut to shape, these stuck on great once the once the matching surfaces were cleaned.
New glass pushed into each mirror and all is like new again, no mirror vibration, test ride was had and perfect!!.
Many thanks _________________ Cheers Grant
