Following my recent renewal of the seal in the master cylinder the bike developed another brake problem over the weekend. I was out on a run when I had to stop on a hill and held the bike there to stop it rolling back using the front brake.
The lever then started to move back towards the grip until the bike started to move backwards. Pumping the lever restored some of the brake but not all. Until then they had been working perfectly
I made it home and checked the system but there were no leaks.
To cut a long story short I have replaced the flexible hoses with braded Goodridge type and what a difference I have REAL brakes.
I found it was one of the lower hoses from the splitter junction to the calliper was breaking down and expanding under pressure. I cut the old hoses along the length and was initally surprised how small the central bore was but the one that was causing the problem was almost twice the width of the others and the rubber core was breaking up.
My K75 as far as I know has never had the flexible lines replaced shows no wear or problems at all despite being 12 years older and covered almost 3 times the total miles than the K1100 _________________ 1997 K1100LT
