|

Hi All,
I have removed the ABS and fitted new disc, pads, brake lines and the master cylinder is a shiny new one from BSK Speedworks. The only original thing in the rear brake is the caliper. It was leaking a little but Ive replaced the O-rings and it all seems OK. Problem is it just doesn't have much grip. It will slow me a little and hold me if I'm on a gradient but that's about it.
Does anyone know if the twin piston EVO calipers off the R1150 would fit? I'm having trouble finding anyone that has a K11 rear caliper. Has anyone made up a bracket and used another aftermarket caliper?
thanks

What did you get for pads.
100% organic(ie non-semi metalic) will not grip well, but by the same design intent they will not eat up your brake rotor either.
Harder pad compounds like ceramic(for better heat dissipation and less dust) may give a softer feel as well. I have not run them so I can't say 100% for sure. _________________ Ride safe.

Not sure of the compound. They're EBC and are sort of gold coloured on the back...they may be copper alloy. Do these just take longer to bed in with a new disc? Maybe I haven't given them time. _________________ '95 K1100LT

Not sure, but there is probably some bed in time needed.
I'm going to be replacing the rear rotor myself on my '95 as soon as the new one gets here, so I'll be in the same situation soon myself with new disk. _________________ Ride safe.

Definitely getting better after a couple of days excessive use I guess they just take a while to bed in. Id be worried if the fronts were this bad...take it easy for the first 50 or so ks I guess. _________________ '95 K1100LT

I'd definitely give the pads time to bed before attempting anything else. Even then a change of compound should do the job. Changing calliper seems a bit extreme. Good luck.
