So, I got word Thursday that the K is totaled. The insurance company will pay the max for repairs, I keep the bike, and I pay for whatever the insurance company payment doesn't cover. Except for the broken upper fairing, and a bent fairing bracket, almost all the damage is cosmetic. I already donated the upper fairing off the BAK (boat anchor K) - one of the painters thinks he can fix the original fairing - one of the mounts is broken off.

The shop that is working on the K is going out of business - they want it finished as soon as possible. The service manager will open his own shop as soon as he can get untangled from the remains of the existing shop. Always good to know there are people around who enjoy working on these older bikes, and actually know what they are doing.

In the meantime, I've been enjoying the R100RT - much more manageable in all the traffic around here. Still need to get a headlight relay, and install a Silverstar Ultra bulb, along with the Catz XLO and a set of hyper brake lights (removed from the BAK) - which means I'll have to do the pricey alternator upgrade, too. As soon as I can figure out how to post pix again, I'll post some of the RT.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Sorry to hear. PITA, huh?

Hope that you are on 2 wheels at HM, no matter make or model (I guess I am an expert on that one, eh?)

Yeah - kind of a PITA... Every round trip to Richmond is at least 5 hours...

I'll be there on two wheels - for sure. BMW something or other.

The K will ride again...
