|
|
The dates for HM X are Wednesday, May 3 through Sunday, May 7, 2017.
All relevant information will be kept in this top post. The date in the subject line will change when I update the post.
The Lodge is reserved.
I am not guaranteeing lodging - first come, first served. If you reserve a bunk, room or cabin, and find you can't make the event, you need to to sell your bunk, room or cabin to someone else or forfeit the charge. No refunds. Please be prepared to make payment when you reserve. Private rooms are $180.00, bunks are $90.00 - for four nights. Cabin rates vary.
Google map
Hungry Mother website
Hungry Mother weather
Days to go until HMSP X
Hungry Mother Lodge - Six bedroom lodge (Sleeps 15 maximum - for our purposes, at this point, it sleeps 11). It's a great place for a get-together. This log lodge offers a view of the park. It was originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s.
Six bedrooms: Master bedroom with a double bed, three bedrooms with queen size beds, one with two sets of bunk beds (making four beds), and one bedroom with a single bed and a set of bunk beds (making three beds). There are three baths total - one in the master bedroom, and two hall baths for the other 5 rooms.
Sleeps 15. Allows 15; no cots for rent.
Kitchen: Refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, coffeemaker, dishes, dishcloth, a few dish towels, silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, microwave oven, toaster, clock radios. Also includes rustic (think Flinstones) furniture, and linens (one set per person). Lodge is climate controlled (heat and AC). Bring food, dish detergent, extra dish towels, coffee filters, coffee, salt and pepper, and motorcycles.
Porch, large deck and picnic shelter, washer and dryer, gas grill, gas fireplace" (The gas fireplace sucks - the fire out by the shelter is much better - as long as we can scrounge enough wood!)
As before, I am not guaranteeing lodging. C = cabin, P = private room, B = bunk. Private rooms are $180.00, bunks are $90.00 - for four nights. The private rooms are already taken.
Four bunks are still open - yikes!
Scott ------ M (paid - thank you!)
Chuck -- --- P (paid - thank you!)
Audi ------- P (paid - thank you!)
Jim -------- P
Steve -- --- B (paid - thank you!)
John --- --- B (paid - thank you!)
Ernie ---- -- B (paid - thank you!) _________________ Jim

Only 150 days to go now - HMX is right around the corner! 10th anniversary - it's been an adventure. Maybe Ted will make it this time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. I will be on a K bike next year!
There are still 4 bunks left, though. That's not so good... _________________ Jim

Well, 102 days till HM, 100 days until I head out visiting clients and friends on the way. This year I worked on turkey chili which came out pretty good, and have been working on smoking St Louis style ribs. I may have to smoke the ribs, and vac bag and freeze them to bring. I may also do a Boston Butt and bag it as well. BBQ goes with anything.
We need to fill up the cabin, I invited a couple of R bike friends, who do you know you can invite? _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

Less than 90 days to go. Looking forward to something outside after this non-winter in the northeast. We have had cold but very little snow. _________________ John & Cathy

OK- Just about 2 months to go.
Unfortunately Jim- while I know several riders, none will be good to make the 900 mile trip X 2.
As of right now, my plans are to be there mid afternoon on Thursday (yeah I know I'll be a day late- I'll explain when I get there)
ON EDIT- change of plans- should be there Wednesday afternoon!

Hello all..
Well after yesterdays 2.5 to 3 feet of snow, and more promised on the way, at least two of us northern New Englanders may still be digging out in the days just before HM-X. I well remember riding over Pico Mtn. in a heavy squall and thru the Killington (VT) area on my way to HM-8 while they were still skiing and snowboarding.. Hope this years ride wont involve mounting a ski on the front wheel and wrapping rope around the rear rim..!
Looking forward to seeing everyone once again, and warning Rydor to beware of Golf Carts on the way, we all want to see him arrive in one piece !
Best regards all.....// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Hi John....
You did see the forecast for this weekend right ?? Another 12".. and I have not yet gotten the last mess cleared completely. You had a great pic of your snow clearing equipment posted and I would have done the same showing my 11" Ace Hardware aluminum shovel... BUT I couldn't post it !
See you in 34 days... are you riding or trailering ??

Looks like I'll be on the RT again - the K bike parts are still languishing at their respective painters - and the bikes are still with the mechanic. Good thing he isn't charging me storage - those bikes would be gone... _________________ Jim

Ernie- what are your plans?
I could go either way. PM me if you want to double up- I can load both of our bikes if you would rather do that.
I had very loose plans to trailer to my sister's home in Newtown, Ct then ride from there but if you want I would be happy to trailer your K bike and mine to HMX
Let me know.

Hi John...
Well THANKS for the offer but I'll be stopping in PA for a few days on the way down to help son with a bit of wiring in the barn. Plus we have a new colt I'd like to see and spend some time praising the mare for a "job well done"...
Then its on to Marion and I should arrive on the !st.... after that its my usual cruise to Saltville, Hayders Gap, and St.Paul before heading down to Jonesborough TN and on to Lexington NC... I'll return on the coastal route through Delaware and on up to I-287 then up to Albany and across VT to NH again... Being retired puts no strain on my riding plan,,, whereas you have a business to run and a practice to maintain, Trailering is a good option for you and others that come from far away... I just take my time "so to speak"
RE snow... got a bit under 12" yesterday, but you and both know its not going to last long.. temps this week in the high 40s and 50s... still Ive got to dig the bike out again, and have been futzing with the ABS Module... I got it to function last season by pulling the plungers, but nothing Ive done so far has brought it back to life again. Looks like tape on the blinking lamp will have to do it this time.
See you in Marion.... the first club soda is on me !!
