New to me 92 K1100LT (Ex Police) is too tall. At 5'6" I can only get the toes of one foot at a time on the ground and would like a bit more. I have swapped the rear shock for a K100 shockie and it is much better for height. I can now get the balls of both feet down . Does any one see any issues in the longterm by swapping the shocks ?? eg.angle of the swingarm and different stresses on the UJ's etc

If anything I'd think that it would put less angle/stress on the U-joints.
You might want to consider dropping the forks a little too to level out the bike. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

A lot more effort to get it on the centre stand.
There are numerous low shock options for sale, so what you are doing is nothing new. As mentioned, you may wish to drop the forks.

This.
I put on a 5.5" wheel from a K1200, which is 17" as opposed to the 18" stocker. I also lowered the forks a corresponding amount to level out the bike, plus a little more to make it turn in quicker.
Now it's a bear to put on the center stand. It's hard to even get your foot between the side stand and the exhaust, when you first fold it down. _________________ '20 R1250RS - The RS

Yes centre stand is difficult, but I push the rear wheel up onto a piece of wood (6''x 2'') and this does the trick. Doesn't help when away from home though.
To lower the forks is it as simple as pushing the fork legs up through the fork bridge the required amount or am I missing something??? _________________ MIKE

Simple yes - missing anything - no. Just make sure that you don't snag anything such as any wires/cables/anything else, which may pass though the legs of the forks. Thats about all there is to it. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

With the 1100's, you may find that the center stand is installed with some spacers(approx 3/8") between the stand frame and the transmission bottom.
On my '95 LT I installed a lower profile rear tire, which then made it more difficult for me to center stand it. So I relocated the spacers from between the stand and trans, to between the stand and the bolt heads(so I could re-use the same length bolts)....
This has improved my ability to center stand the bike, much easier.
This may be something to consider. _________________ Ride safe.

FYI: LTs have the center stand spacers, RSs do not. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
