Gidday Folks,
So my four pin plug from the fuel tank has been a little temperamental over the last few months.
Normal symptoms of going to start the bike and occasionally no fuel pump sounds, so I give the wiring a gentle tap or some movement and away we are all good to go.
Can this be replaced, what costs and is it still available from BMW or elsewhere? or does anyone have any refurbishment type solutions etc..
Any info would be greatly appreciated and I just clocked over 160,000kms on the weekend with a ride up over Mount Hotham in Victoria Australia and then down around the Omeo etc. It was not the best weather with a gale winds and little snow on the summit, plus the roads a little slippery but the LT and its fairing/heated grips combination worked a great. Is such a great bike.

Any pin in socket will start to have problems eventually. You can try cleaning them first with spray electrical cleaner, maybe it's just corrosion. You can use dielectric grease to squirt in the female end and plug it in.
Not sure if you can squeeze the female connections to close them a bit.
Another option is to use a soldering iron to "tin" the male pins, which will make them ever so slightly bigger.

BTW,
what is on the opposite end to the four pin plug where it goes up under the tank, can it be disconnected there or is it permanently attached to the fuel pump??
This weekend I will remove the tank and have a good look myself

Not sure if you have access to any of these down under, but some riders have replaced that connector with this style.(NOT using the blue tap connectors, something more permanent) Here in the states, these are used for connecting trailer lighting.
