Thought I'd try upgrading my low(5k) mileage stock shock with a hyperpro spring.. IMO, the stock spring is too soft but the Showa damper is fairly good.. So here goes a $75 experment!

The biggest problem is removing the old spring. But a old metal plate and 2 ratchet straps! Done!

Its about the same length, so I can't expect more preload. The springs are definitely coiled differently..

Not crazy about the color with the bike color, but it is a bit more flashy! Would look great on a black or grey!

Next the front forks....

Nice work Audi. The spring color is pretty flashy.

Got to get busy on my K right after the holidays. HMX will be here before we know it. Very Happy

Where'd you get the spring? eBay or?

I got the spring kit from Motoworks.uk

the set was about $220.(forks, rear and oil).. pretty reasonable upgrade..

Just got the forks finished and the new springs make a huge difference!! I did a pretty major flork overhaul: Fork sliders, seals, springs.. took about 4 hours to do both forks...

They are about .5-.75 inch longer than stock. and they have a good progression to them.. The K11 forks arn't really drop in units, the fork legs and damper rods need to be separated.. Kind of a pain for a simple mod..

Thorough Ride report will follow!!

More fun!!

I bought this bike at auction with 5260 miles... It hadn't run in 18years!! that's right! 18 years. The only good thing was the compression was GOOD... everything else was leaking and messed up. a critter was living in the airbox!!

After rebuilding the entire fuel/induction system, cooling system and dropping the sump.

Fired right up after a through overhaul.. The clutch was acting up and the is a leak somewhere aft of the engine..

The rear trans seal is leaking. the main seals area good. Debating weather I should change them while im back there.

By the time you are done you will practically have a new vintage bike.

Nice work!

There is an "O" Ring in the clutch carrier housing bore, I would recommend this replacement whilst you're in there. Years of standing cause the rubber to crack.
