At 73 years old the RS handlebars are killing me. Question - has anybody changed out the bars to touring type? Was it a success? I expect I will have to change cable and brake lines, but I'm concerned with the riding position I will end up with, which would be more erect but with my legs and feet still in the RS configuration.
I did install the bar extenders which moved the bar up 1" and back 1" (+/-) and it did help but not enough. All day riding is very difficult for me, and we are contemplating some long distance touring. I LOVE this bike but I'd like to make it more comfortable for long distance touring.
I will greatly appreciate your thoughts and comments - although I will NOT let go of this machine for a different model. I'm just too fond of it. _________________ 1995 K1100RS |

Search is your friend.
Here is one thread on the subject: http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12398&highlight=bars
For your own info- I used the search feature at the top of each page. Then I typed in the following: LT AND bars
Using AND makes the search look for both words. _________________ John & Cathy

Thank-you John, the info was very informative. Converting to LT bars may not be as difficult as I thought. _________________ 1995 K1100RS |
